    A screenshot of a post is not the post.

    You screenshot a post because of what it says. What you keep is a picture: no link, no way to reply, no way to send it to someone properly, and half the frame taken up by buttons.

    A week later you remember the sentence but not who wrote it, and searching your camera roll for a sentence has never worked.

    The post you saved, found again

    omemo reads the screenshot first: the display name, the @handle, the verified badge, the full text of the post exactly as written, the date shown, hashtags and mentions, and whether an image, a video or a link card was attached.

    Then it goes looking for the original post on the web and picks the right one out of the candidates — the same finder used for reels and videos.

    When it lands on the post, omemo reads it directly for the author, the posted date, the likes, the reposts and the complete text. So a post that was cut off at the bottom of your screenshot comes back whole.

    The card keeps a link that reopens the post on X, so you can reply, quote or share it like a post instead of sending a picture.

    Usually, yes. It reads the handle and the wording off the image, searches the web for that exact post, and ranks what it finds to pick the right one. When no match can be confirmed, the card still keeps the author, the text and the date read from your screenshot.

    Display name, @handle, verified badge, the full post text, the date, hashtags, mentions, the language, and whether an image, video or link preview was attached. When the original post is found, the likes, reposts and posted date come from the post itself.

    That's exactly the case it's built for. Once the original post is located, the full text is taken from there, so the card is complete even though your screenshot wasn't.

    Yes. A quoted post is kept separately, with its own author and text, and a “Replying to @…” line is recorded so you know what the post was answering.
